Carole Mahoney's Official Bio

Carole Mahoney, CEOYou are welcome to search, but you are unlikely to find, a bio of me anywhere that reads 'private schooling, country clubs, political activist or Nobel Prize contender.'

So it didn't seem right to me to have a professional and scripted 3rd person narrative of who I am. Polished I am not. Transparent I am. If that ever changes, someone please smack me. (Just not in public- never yank the chain of the dog if you don't want the whole dog.)

I come from what some might call the school of hard knocks. I wear my scars with honor, pride and as a reminder of what I have learned along the way.

Here's my story; straight from the horse's mouth.

Carole Mahoney's Education

I wasn't valedictorian of my high school. In fact I missed the top 10% of my experimental high school class by 1 person (I still remember the name of the student who beat me!). But oh how I loved to learn (and still do). From AP physics and statistics to Advanced Spanish and languages. I am an extremely fast learner.

I never was the star of the show. I was too scared to really try. If you were to ask my high school music teachers (who I stay in touch with on my Facebook page), I bet they would say something along the lines of; "She always had such a very nice voice and played so well." Nothing bombastic going on there. But I practiced until it was a part of my natural thought pattern. I lost myself in music, drama and the arts. It was, and still remains, one of my favorite outlets. (If you are really determined, you might find a video of 18 year old version of me in a state jazz competition or transcribing Fur Elise to classic guitar tab.) Music is math being spoken as an audible language.

I wasn't editor of the school paper. But I really wanted to be. In retrospect, I think my teacher made a wise decision. He knew I would want to re-write everything that came to me.

I was a published author by 4th grade. Ok, so it was winner for the newspaper's Christmas Creative writing contest, it was still my name in print with my idea next to it for the world to see. That was all that mattered. But I did interview the governor and educational commissioner for the State of Maine my senior year. I don't remember if it was planned or not, but when I asked them a question in front of the general school assembly, the entire teaching staff stood to their feet and applauded. (I wish I could remember what the question was.)

I didn't win first place very often in track for the 1 mile either. I did become addicted to the runner's high and would spend hours running through the woods. I am in love with nature. It is probably why I choose to live in work in Maine.

I tried anything of interest because I learned at a young age that life is too short not to. I never really cared much for what other people thought and didn't dare to say. If they dared to say it, they got my attention. (For some reason, not many people dared to say what they were thinking to my face. The ones that did and could handle my response are still close friends to this day.)
